Gotta Catch Santa Claus DVD Release Review

Gotta Catch Santa Claus is not a bad offering, for it's intended audience at least and I have given it 3 stars.

This film is obviously aimed at very young children, up to the age of around seven or eight I should think. It features a large quantity of musical numbers, highly repetitive and irritating to an adult ear, but children will no doubt enjoy singing along as the words are very easy to learn and the tunes are catchy.

Gotta Catch Santa Claus is a CG short (just under 1hr long, but that is quite long enough), based on a comic book by Trevor Taylor and is extremely lively and colourful. It stars William Shatner (Star trek, Over the Hedge) as Santa Claus, which is frankly rather disturbing! The film also features Cory Doran (Jimmy Two-Shoes, Stoked), Lisa Lennox (The Doodlebops) and Cal Dodd (X-men t.v. series and video game franchise).

The story is based around Trevor, a young boy who wishes to prove to a girl he is interested in that Santa exists by capturing him for her. Little does he know that LeFreeze, an old adversary of Santa Claus is also out to get him this Christmas Eve.

There are no special features included with this feature, but they aren't really needed here. All in all I would say that if you have small children and can cope with an hour of dubious music and strange psychedelic backgrounds then this one is most definitely for you.

Gotta Catch Santa Claus is available to buy now on DVD.
