Paranormal Activity 3 gets a trailer and an image

Paranormal activity 3, the new part of the Paranormal Activity series - I'm not going to use the word trilogy as I can see this series going on for another couple of films until the writers run out of ways to show that Paranormal Activity is scary and not becoming a parody of itself...

Now with that out of the way, Paramount has sent over the scary full trailer! We already have seen a teaser trailer but with the full trailer out you may want to watch that one as the new one seems to give the whole plot, and some of the twists, away.

We are excited to tell you that the CATFISH team of Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman have come aboard PARANORMAL 3. Jason Blum and the original creator Oren Peli are back producing with Steven Schneider and Akiva Goldsman executive producing. Christopher B. Landon, who served as a writer on last year’s hit sequel is back, and so are your sleepless nights.

Get deep into The Debt

With a drawn out drama just to get itself to the cinema, The Debt has now finally opened in the UK. The reasons why this film, that was originally due out in early January 2011 not late September is a long and drawn out one - mostly about money, or the lack of it!

With that out of the way and the great news that it has finally opened, Universal has sent over a load of clips to go with the film. If, on the other hand you have no idea what the film is about then you can always watch the trailer over here.

At The Ghost Station

How Young They Were

The Car is Waiting

This Is Where We Get Him Out

Welcome To The Mission

Where Do I Sleep

The story begins in 1997, as shocking news reaches retired Mossad secret agents Rachel (played by Academy Award winner Helen Mirren) and Stephan (two-time Academy Award nominee Tom Wilkinson) about their former colleague David (CiarĂ¡n Hinds of the upcoming Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy). All three have been venerated for decades by Israel because of the secret mission that they embarked on for their country back in 1965-1966, when the trio (portrayed, respectively, by Jessica Chastain [The Tree of Life, The Help], Marton Csokas [The Lord of the Rings, Dream House], and Sam Worthington [Avatar, Clash of the Titans]) tracked down Nazi war criminal Dieter Vogel (Jesper Christensen of Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace), the feared Surgeon of Birkenau, in East Berlin. While Rachel found herself grappling with romantic feelings during the mission, the net around Vogel was tightened by using her as bait.

At great risk, and at considerable personal cost, the team’s mission was accomplished – or was it? The suspense builds in and across two different time periods, with startling action and surprising revelations that compel Rachel to take matters into her own hands

Why does a Rockstar need a telephone when you have Skype?

Rahman records with Michael Jackson’s lead guitarist in LA; Imtiaz participates through Skype

AR Rahman and Imtiaz Ali have put in their heart and soul to create some memorable music for their upcoming film ‘Rockstar’ produced by Shree Ashtavinayak & Eros International.

The music director has roped in Orianthi Panagaris, Michael Jackson’s lead guitarist for a song titled ‘Saadda Haq’ in the film’s soundtrack.

While working on ‘Saadda Haq’, the team (Rahman, Imtiaz, Irshad & Mohit Chauhan) agreed that they needed a fantastic lead guitarist to justify the tempo and the lyrics of the song. A source from the team says, “While Rahman and Imtiaz had shortlisted several Indian and international musicians, they had Orianthi on the top of their list; given her incredible body of work and her huge international success.”

Rahman checked with his agent in LA and even met up with Orianthi during one of his work visits there. He made her listen to the rough track and she absolutely loved it.  Rahman immediately contacted Imtiaz and soon the Director was online, video chatting with Rahman & Orianthi from Mumbai.
“The Director had a long discussion with Orianthi on Skype; briefing her about the film’s story and the song’s relevance. Orianthi who was sitting with Rahman in LA immediately played some tunes that she felt could work well for the song. They (Imtiaz & Rahman) loved it and so Orianthi was on board!” the source adds.

A few days later, Rahman recorded Orianthi playing the guitar for ‘Saadda Haq’ in his LA studio. The process took 6 long hours, while Imtiaz witnessed the entire session through Skype!

See more of the War Horse

From a book, then a play comes a film from Steven Spielberg. This time Disney has released a new image from the film.

Based on the book by: Michael Morpurgo and the recent stage play by Nick Stafford, produced by the National Theatre of Great Britain and directed by Tom Morris and Marianne Elliot.

From director Steven Spielberg comes “War Horse,” an epic adventure for audiences of all ages. Set against a sweeping canvas of rural England and Europe during the First World War, “War Horse” begins with the remarkable friendship between a horse named Joey and a young man called Albert, who tames and trains him. When they are forcefully parted, the film follows the extraordinary journey of the horse as he moves through the war, changing and inspiring the lives of all those he meets—British cavalry, German soldiers, and a French farmer and his granddaughter—before the story reaches its emotional climax in the heart of No Man’s Land.

The First World War is experienced through the journey of this horse—an odyssey of joy and sorrow, passionate friendship and high adventure. “War Horse” is one of the great stories of friendship and war— a successful book, it was turned into a hugely successful international theatrical hit that is arriving on Broadway next year. It now comes to screen in an epic adaptation by one of the great directors in film history.

Cane Toad destruction in 3D

I think it's a pity that this film will only have a limited release here in the UK as it looks a hilarious take on what happens when man fails. The film seems to focus on the way that the human population tries to keep the invasion of the Cane Toad in, seeeminly, a very Australian way. The film is show in 3D. I'm not sure why apart from "why not"!

Mark Lewis (Cane Toads: An Unnatural History) explores one of Australia’s greatest environmental catastrophes as he follows the unstoppable march of the cane toad across the Australian continent. Despised by many, venerated by some, the toad has occupied a nation’s consciousness achieving both cult and criminal status. Despite its international origin the cane toad has become uniquely Australian – yet, for a world wrestling with the idea that we have irretrievably altered our own ecosystem, its story holds universal relevance.

Featuring a host of engaging characters as well as thousands of toads, Cane Toads: 3D is a humorous yet thought-provoking journey into the issue of invasive species.

This Retreat maybe your last

Until Tintin appears, Jamie Bell stars in this low budget thriller. I do think that the trailer does, slightly, give the ending away. However, it does look like it is going to be a tense, psychological thriller all the same.

To watch this video, you need the latest Flash-Player and active javascript in your browser.

In a last-ditch attempt to save their failing marriage after the stillbirth of their first child, Kate (Thandie Newton), a journalist and Martin (Cillian Murphy), an architect, escape London for a retreat to the beautiful, yet remote and unpopulated Blackholme Island, which is off the west coast of Scotland. Fairweather Cottage is a place where they once shared a romantic holiday and the island holds fond memories of happier times.

Kate and Martin arrive by boat, it's autumn and the rocky barren moors are blown by freezing winds and the before they've even settled in, the generator and CB radio communication start to fail. Their relationship is already fragile and anxieties are pushed higher when they lose all contact with the mainland and after a heavy storm, an injured man is washed up on the shore. Dressed in military fatigues and carrying a gun, the mysterious stranger regains consciousness and identifies himself as a British soldier called Private Jack Corman and he soon reveals that he carries a deadly message – an airborne virus is sweeping Europe and all their lives are under threat unless they take drastic action. He insists that the only way to avoid the fatal disease is to seal themselves in the cottage.

In a series of tense twists, the captive couple are forced to use their ingenuity to outwit the equally volatile and charismatic Jack in an attempt to unravel the real truth. Loyalties divide and merge and paranoia sets in, culminating in a violent and shocking conclusion.

What does The Future hold?

A film that is very hard to explain. It seems from the synopsis that we have a couple who will be adopting a cat in a month's time. This is the story of that month.

To watch this video, you need the latest Flash-Player and active javascript in your browser.

Sophie and Jason are strange the way all couples are strange when they’re alone. They live in a small LA apartment, have jobs they hate, and in one month they’ll adopt a stray cat named Paw Paw. Like a newborn baby, he’ll need around-the-clock care – he may die in six months, or it may take five years.

Despite their good intentions, Sophie and Jason are terrified of their looming loss of freedom. So with just one month left, they quit their jobs, and the Internet, to pursue their dreams – Sophie wants to create a dance, Jason wants simply to be guided by fate. But as the month slips away, Sophie becomes increasingly, humiliatingly paralyzed. In a moment of desperation, she calls a stranger, Marshall – a square, fifty-year-old man who lives in the Valley. In his suburban world she doesn’t have to be herself; as long as she stays there, she’ll never have to try (and fail) again.

Living in two terrifyingly vacant and different realities, Sophie and Jason must reunite with time, space and their own souls in order to come home.

First Night gets a clip

first Night is getting nearer to its own first night in cinemas. With that I have just been sent over a clip showing Richard E. Grant with a bet that may change the way his leading couple gets on...

To watch this video, you need the latest Flash-Player and active javascript in your browser.

Fusing the stately grandeur of Gosford Park with the magical music of Amadeus, First Night is a unique story of love’s fluctuating fortunes set against a backdrop of visual and vocal beauty. As the cast, the drama, and the music carefully walk a tightrope between humour and pathos a timeless romantic comedy unfolds.

Adam (Richard E. Grant) is a rich industrialist and frustrated opera singer aspiring to a more cultured world. Spurred on by playful jibes that he’s just a City suit living a capitalist dream he decides to stage an opera in his lavish country retreat. He feels sure the shallow taunting will end once his friends see him in full voice. In fact his singing might even help him win the hand of Celia (Sarah Brightman) the female conductor he’s been pursuing, especially since she is the first to be recruited for his showpiece.

For the rest of the cast and the production Adam brings in the experts and enlists the aid of a troupe of sexy young singer with enough collective sexual tension to light up the stage. His choice of opera? Mozart’s Cosi Fan Tutte, the master composer’s fabled romp through the bittersweet territory of sexual infidelity. And as this disparate group flexes their melodic and melodramatic muscles, it won’t be long before life imitates art as relationships flourish and flounder.

Cosi Fan Tutte is Mozart’s most popular opera. Although it has always been regarded as his most lyrical it has a cynical vein running through it which resonates with contemporary audiences. The story unfolds while rehearsals take place. As in the opera so it is in the film. Mozart’s music heightens a comedic drama as a classic tale of love and betrayal plays out.

Desi Boyz gets posters and a trailer

After the director trying to kill the stars with this helicopter stunt, it seems that the rest of the filming went off without a hitch. In line with most other Bollywood films, a number of posters have been released for the film.
I have managed to find a trailer over on youTube. The film does look very funny - and this is coming form someone who doesn't watch Bollywood films or know the language!

The year is 2009. The world has been struck by the financial meltdown. But Nick Mathur and Jerry Patel don't feel a thing in their comfortable pad in London.

Nick feels smug with his successful investment banking job, the new bonus in his pocket and his beautiful fiancĂ©, Radhika, by his side, while Jerry is so used to scraping the bottom of the barrel and living off his best buddy Nick, that recession feels like home.  But life has a way of pulling the rug from under our feet.

Nick and Jerry stop smiling the day Nick's company decides to downsize and unceremoniously fires him.  And Jerry is informed by the Social Services that his nephew Veer, who is being brought up by Jerry, will be placed in a foster home unless he gets a steady job.

DESI BOYZ is the story of two men who are forced to do something extremely bizarre, which gives them instant gratification, but the repercussions tear them apart. Its aftermath puts everything to a test, including their friendship.

Sleeping Beauty

The film has been described as an "Erotic Drama". This part comes out in the trailer but I think you need to also add "sci-fi thriller" as the trailer hints towards that. It does, in a loose sort of way, have a feel of the 80s film, Brainstorm.

To watch this video, you need the latest Flash-Player and active javascript in your browser.

“You will go to sleep: you will wake up. It will be as if those hours never existed.”

Death-haunted, quietly reckless, Lucy is a young university student who takes a job as a Sleeping Beauty. In the Sleeping Beauty Chamber old men seek an erotic experience that requires Lucy’s absolute submission.

This unsettling task starts to bleed into Lucy’s daily life and she develops an increasing need to know what happens to her when she is asleep.

Haunting and provocative, Julia Leigh’s powerful vision is one of the most startling debut features of recent years. Featuring a fearless performance from Emily Browning, Sleeping Beauty is set to be one of the year’s most anticipated and celebrated releases.

Immortals gets a third trailer

Just over a month ago we saw the first trailer for the upcoming Immortals. Now we get a slightly different, final, trailer.

Eons after the Gods won their mythic struggle against the Titans, a new evil threatens the land. Mad with power, King Hyperion (Mickey Rourke) has declared war against humanity. Amassing a bloodthirsty army of soldiers disfigured by his own hand, Hyperion has scorched Greece in search of the legendary Epirus Bow, a weapon of unimaginable power forged in the heavens by Ares.

Only he who possesses this bow can unleash the Titans, who have been imprisoned deep within the walls of Mount Tartaros since the dawn of time and thirst for revenge. In the king's hands, the bow would rain destruction upon mankind and annihilate the Gods. But ancient law dictates the Gods must not intervene in man's conflict. They remain powerless to stop Hyperion...until a peasant named Theseus (Henry Cavill) comes forth as their only hope.

Secretly chosen by Zeus, Theseus must save his people from Hyperion and his hordes. Rallying a band of fellow outsiders--including visionary priestess Phaedra (Freida Pinto) and cunning slave Stavros (Stephen Dorff)--one hero will lead the uprising, or watch his homeland fall into ruin and his Gods vanish into legend. The 3-D epic adventure Immortals is directed by revolutionary visualist Tarsem Singh (The Cell, The Fall) and produced by Gianni Nunnari and Mark Canton, the producers of 300, as well as Ryan Kavanaugh (Dear John, The Dark Fields).

IN TIME - Digital Postcards

Fox has just released a set of "Digital Postcards" for the film, In Time. I have no idea what they actually mean by that apart from being posters with pithy slogans on them. If you have a better idea then please put a comment at the bottom.

Welcome to a world where time has become the ultimate currency. You stop aging at 25, but there’s a catch: you’re genetically-engineered to live only one more year, unless you can buy your way out of it. The rich “earn” decades at a time (remaining at age 25), becoming essentially immortal, while the rest beg, borrow or steal enough hours to make it through the day. When a man from the wrong side of the tracks is falsely accused of murder, he is forced to go on the run with a beautiful hostage. Living minute to minute, the duo’s love becomes a powerful tool in their war against the system.
