Introducing Kronos and The Cyclops

With Wrath of the Titans in UK cinemas from today, Warner Bros has just sent over two new featurettes. This time we meet not only Kronos but the Cyclops as well.

Meet Kronos
Meet the Cyclops
A decade after his heroic defeat of the monstrous Kraken, Perseus is attempting to live a quieter life as a village fisherman and the sole parent to his 10-year-old son, Helius. Meanwhile, a struggle for supremacy rages between the gods and the Titans. Dangerously weakened by humanity's lack of devotion, the gods are losing control of the imprisoned Titans and their ferocious leader, Kronos, father of the long-ruling brothers Zeus, Hades and Poseidon. The triumvirate had overthrown their powerful father long ago, leaving him to rot in the gloomy abyss of Tartarus, a dungeon that lies deep within the cavernous underworld.

Perseus cannot ignore his true calling when Hades, along with Zeus's godly son, Ares, switch loyalty and make a deal with Kronos to capture Zeus. The Titans' strength grows stronger as Zeus's remaining godly powers are siphoned, and hell is unleashed on earth. Enlisting the help of the warrior Queen Andromeda, Poseidon's demigod son, Agenor, and fallen god Hephaestus, Perseus bravely embarks on a treacherous quest into the underworld to rescue Zeus, overthrow the Titans and save mankind.

Dancing in 3rd Class

James Cameron’s “Titanic” is an epic, action-packed romance set against the ill-fated maiden voyage of the R.M.S. Titanic, the pride and joy of the White Star Line and, at the time, the largest moving object ever built.

She was the most luxurious liner of her era -- the “ship of dreams” -- which ultimately carried over 1,500 people to their death in the ice cold waters of the North Atlantic in the early hours of April 15, 1912.
Hitting UK cinemas in 3D, Digital 2D and IMAX on April 6, 2012.

Mirror Mirror gets a new trailer

Not only do we get a new trailer for Mirror Mirror with some great acting from all involved. We also get two clips from the film as well!

NEW - UK Trailer
Clip - Giants
Clip - The Treatment
Mirror Mirror: The Untold Adventures of Snow White is a spectacular reimagining of the classic fairy tale starring Oscar® winner Julia Roberts as the Queen, Lily Collins (The Blind Side) as Snow White, Armie Hammer (The Social Network) as Prince Alcott, Sean Bean (“The Game of Thrones”, The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King) as the King and Nathan Lane (The Lion King, The Birdcage) as the Queen's hapless and bungling servant, Brighton. An evil queen steals control of a kingdom and an exiled princess enlists the help of seven resourceful rebels to win back her birthright in a spirited adventure comedy filled with jealousy, romance and betrayal that will capture the imagination of audiences the world over.

Visionary director Tarsem Singh (Immortals) rewrites fairy tale history as a wicked enchantress (Roberts) schemes and scrambles for control of a spirited orphan’s (Collins) throne and the attention of a charming prince (Hammer). When Snow White’s beauty wins the heart of the prince that she desperately pursues, the Queen banishes her to the forest, where a ravening man-eating beast hungrily awaits.

Rescued by a band of diminutive highway robbers, Snow White grows into an indomitable young woman determined to take back her realm from the treacherous Queen. With the support of her subjects, she roars into action in an epic battle that blends spectacle, magic and contemporary humor in Singh’s signature, jaw-dropping visual style.

A Night To Remember

With the centenary of the sinking of The Titanic in April, Park Circus is to release the best film about the ship. Some may disagree saying James Cameron's Titanic. Historians regard this as a high point in its accuracy of the night, apart from the sinking. You have to remember that that was the thinking before the ship was discovered in 1985.

I haven't been sent the updated trailer so I give you the original.
The first and arguably best feature-length dramatic recreation of the fatal events surrounding the sinking of the Titanic on the evening/morning of 14/15 April 1912 now looks like a prototype for the docudrama form.

Beautifully and fully digitally restored for the Titanic centenary. A Night To Remember is a genuine British classic.
In selected UK cinemas from April 13, 2012.

Talent Lab returns to EIFF as delegates discover the traverse

Edinburgh – 28 March 2012 – Edinburgh International Film Festival today announced the second year of their Talent Lab. Supported through the Scottish Government’s Edinburgh Festivals Expo Fund and by Creative Scotland, the Lab offers up-and-coming filmmakers a fantastic opportunity to learn from the world’s key film industry players.

Drawing on the Festival’s successful track record in talent development, the four day programme will lead emerging Scottish and UK filmmakers in group discussions and networking events as well as hosting an invaluable afternoon of one-on-one advice and information sessions with experienced industry insiders, all with the aim of honing skills and building confidence within the next generation of filmmakers.

A select group of Scottish producer participants from the EIFF Talent Lab will also be offered the opportunity to attend the Toronto International Film Festival in September 2012 as delegates of the Canadian festival.

The Talent Lab is open to screenwriters, directors and producers with a short film or feature credit to their name, and application details can be found at www.edfilmfest.org.uk/talentdevelopment.

Chris Fujiwara, EIFF Artistic Director said: “The Edinburgh International Film Festival is strongly committed to discovering and supporting emerging talent. We’re proud to announce the second year of our Talent Lab, which is our major vehicle for fulfilling this vital mission. We’re grateful to the Scottish Government for their continued support of our Expo-funded programmes, and we look forward to showcasing this year’s new talent in our new Delegate Centre at the Traverse.”

All Talent Lab events will take place at the EIFF’s new Delegate Centre venue, the Traverse Theatre, located at the heart of the Edinburgh Cultural Quarter and just steps from Filmhouse, the home of EIFF. In addition to the Talent Lab, the Traverse will play host to a full programme of Industry events, information services and networking opportunities for all filmmakers, delegates and press.

Linda Crooks, Executive Producer/Joint CEO, Traverse Theatre commented: “The Traverse is thrilled to be in a position to host the EIFF 2012 Delegate Centre.  It has been a long held ambition to work more closely with our Cultural Quarter neighbours. EIFF is a perfect and timely fit.   Both the Traverse and EIFF have a lot more than geography in common, not least as internationally renowned Festival organisations dedicated to the support of emergent talent.  We look forward to collaborating on exciting opportunities that may present themselves now that Chris Fujiwara has taken up the artistic helm, and to working year-round with the Centre for the Moving Image team.”

Additional talent development programmes at EIFF 2012 include residential labs for emerging composers and sound designers who are looking to work in the moving image industry, and will offer them the chance to meet and talk with successful professionals from their chosen field. Further industry elements at the Festival will be announced at a later date.

The Monk

Being thinly read I had never heard of the book that the film was based on. That's where wikipedia comes into its own. To help stupid people like me!

The film is a French-Spanish co-production. You can tell that in the look of the film as all continental historical-horror films look alike. It a film about the fall from grace and temptation.

The rise and fall of a Capuchin Monk in 17th century Madrid.

Abandoned as a baby on the steps of a monastery and raised in strict Capuchin fashion, Ambrosio has become the most famous preacher in the country. While large crowds from all over the country come to hear his mesmerizing sermons, he’s also bitterly envied for his success by certain fellow monks.

Convinced of his virtue and righteousness, Brother Ambrosio thinks he is immune to temptation...

Until obscure events start terrorizing the monastery. Could they be connected to the unexpected arrival of Valerio, an apprentice monk who has the miraculous gift to relieve Ambrosio’s splitting headaches and hides his disfigured face under a wax mask?

Adapted from the eponymous cult classic Gothic novel.

Elfie Hopkins

This looks, from the trailer, another great British comedy-horror. With Jamie and Ray Winstone on seemly different sides adds to the plot.

Elfie Hopkins (Jaime Winstone), a 22 year-old animal-loving slacker, stoner, and wannabe detective, lives in a sleepy hunting village. Haunted by the death of her mother, Elfie seeks solace and inspiration from the old school detectives in The Maltese Falcon and Chinatown. She entertains herself, along with her geeky best friend, Dylan, by investigating the villagers and upsetting everyone with their imaginative allegations.

Things get serious however with the arrival of a family of trendy city dwellers, the Gammons, who weave seductive tales of adventure and entice the villagers with offers of exotic hunting holidays around the world. Despite not being immune to the Gammons’ charms, Elfie soon smells a rat, and snaps into full detective mode. Her mundane existence is about to be blown apart.

Blood quickly starts to spill in the village, and it’s no longer just the blood of animals. Elfie discovers the villagers are not making those flights and when she finally uncovers the truth, it’s darker than she could ever have imagined...

Tons of booty from the Pirates

With less than a week to go before we get the absurdly long new Aardman film, The Pirates In an Adventure with Scientists, hits UK cinema screens, we have been sent over a ton of new clips and a musical, sing-a-long trailer.

SING-A-LONG TRAILER:

CLIPS It’s Ham Night

We Laugh In The Face Of Danger

I Hate pirates

She’s Fat Dude

Crew Of Briny Rogues

Long Things That Go Bang

Manpanzee

Is That it

It’s the Looting

In The Pirates! In an Adventure with Scientists, Hugh Grant stars in his first animated role as the luxuriantly bearded Pirate Captain – a boundlessly enthusiastic, if somewhat less-than-successful, terror of the High Seas. With a rag-tag crew at his side (Martin Freeman, Brendan Gleeson, Russell Tovey, and Ashley Jensen), and seemingly blind to the impossible odds stacked against him, the Captain has one dream: to beat his bitter rivals Black Bellamy (Jeremy Piven) and Cutlass Liz (Salma Hayek) to the much coveted Pirate Of The Year Award. It's a quest that takes our heroes from the shores of exotic Blood Island to the foggy streets of Victorian London. Along the way they do battle with the pirate-hating Queen Victoria (Imelda Staunton) and team up with a young Charles Darwin (David Tennant), but never lose sight of what a pirate loves best: adventure!
