300 : The Next Chapter

Looking at the images, they have used the same techniques as for the prequel, 300.

Based on Frank Miller’s latest graphic novel Xerxes, and told in the breathtaking visual style of the blockbuster “300,” this new chapter of the epic saga takes the action to a fresh battlefield on the sea as Greek general Themistokles attempts to unite all of Greece by leading the charge that will change the course of the war.

“300: Rise of an Empire” pits Themistokles against the massive invading Persian forces led by mortal-turned-god Xerxes, and Artemesia, vengeful commander of the Persian navy.

Man Of Steel gets an amazing new trailer

The new trailer for Man Of Steel hit my in-box very early this morning. It was worth the wait just for the first few seconds of it.

My only complaint is the casting of Russell Crowe as Jor-El, Superman's real father. His voice jsut sounds strange for the role. This just maybe me as they are trying to get a well-known actor in a well-known role to get more buzz for this re-boot. If anyone can tell me how many times this franchise has been rebooted then please comment below. I'm not sure if this is reboot 2 or 3!

From Spike Island to your local cinema

I've been following this film for quite a while on this blog. From the original casting call, via calls to be an extra in the film all the way to it's premiere at last year's London International film Festival.

Now the film has a UK release date and it's looking like a great "coming of age" drama. I'm just wondering why there isn't a trailer for the film out yet.

Shadowcaster are a four-piece band from Manchester. Or more accurately, they are five lads with guitars and a garage and an ambition to forget school, forget their troubled home lives, forget GCSEs and see their heroes, The Stone Roses, as they play the biggest gig of their career.

As the defining concert of their generation is announced, the band are convinced that all they need is to get tickets, get to the gig, meet Ian Brown, give him their demo tape, and the rest, as the saying goes, will be history.

A simple enough plan, right? But with no tickets and a sold out gig to contend with, the boys embark on a road trip in a “borrowed” florist’s van to Spike Island. Along the way friendships are tested and their futures shaped – together or apart.

Cameras roll on Jupiter Ascending

BURBANK, April 15, 2013 – Filming is underway on Warner Bros. Pictures’ and Village Roadshow Pictures’ “Jupiter Ascending,” an original science fiction epic adventure from filmmakers Lana and Andy Wachowski. Channing Tatum and Mila Kunis star in the film, which began shooting at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden on April 2, 2013.

From the streets of Chicago to far flung galaxies whirling through space, “Jupiter Ascending” was conceived and written by the Wachowskis, who are also directing. Award-winning producer Grant Hill, with whom the writer/directors have collaborated since “The Matrix” Trilogy, is producing the film together with the Wachowskis. Roberto Malerba and Bruce Berman are serving as executive producers.

Jupiter Jones (Mila Kunis) was born under a night sky, with signs predicting that she was destined for great things. Now grown, Jupiter dreams of the stars but wakes up to the cold reality of a job cleaning toilets and an endless run of bad breaks. Only when Caine (Channing Tatum), a genetically engineered ex-military hunter, arrives on Earth to track her down does Jupiter begin to glimpse the fate that has been waiting for her all along—her genetic signature marks her as next in line for an extraordinary inheritance that could alter the balance of the cosmos.

The production will remain in the UK at the studios through June, at which time filming will move to Chicago for completion.

The Princess Bride 25th Anniversary Edition Blu-ray Short Review

This is as fabulous as ever, 4.5 stars for both the film and for the 25th Anniversary extras and bonus features.

The Princess Bride is a classic fairy tale, originally released in 1987 and lovingly converted here to Blu-ray to celebrate the 25th anniversary of its birth. The re-mastered version is just brilliant, the film doesn't even really look that dated (certainly not 25 years old), except of course for the mullets and the computer game screen shots!
