All Stars DVD and Blu-ray Release Short Review

An excellent summer holiday family film, 4 stars.

All Stars is directed by Ben Gregor (D.O.A., Straight 8) and tells the story of a group of kids who fight to save their youth club, The Garage, from the evil local council, who wish to close it down to make way for a car park.

The Garage is run by Gina (Ashley Jensen - Ugly Betty, Nativity!) who is trying to raise enough money to keep it open. Enter Jaden (Akai Osei-Mansfield - Streetdance 2, winner of Sky's "Got To Dance"), with the bright idea to throw a talent show to raise funds. He enlists a reluctant Ethan (Theo Stevenson - Horrid Henry: The Movie, In Bruges), a young entrepreneur with a crush on the girlfriend of the leader of a street dance crew. The ideal finale for a talent show, a dance off between rival crews.

All Stars

After seeing the poster I was scared that this film would be a cheap rip-off of Glee and Step-up. On the plus side, after watching the trailer all my prejudices for the film has vanished. It does have a definatly C/D list set of "celebrities". Somebody from Girls Aloud, that guy from Dr Who and somebody who won a dance competition four years ago!

It's a good looking, silly, modern Youff movie.

ALL STARS, is the British energetic 3D family film from the producers of Horrid Henry: The Movie and the hugely popular StreetDance 3D films and is released on 3rd May 2013.

Starring a fantastic British cast, Theo Stevenson (Horrid Henry) and Akai (winner, Got To Dance 2009), Ashley Jensen (Ugly Betty), Kimberley Walsh from Girls Aloud and Ashley Walters (Anuvahood) and John Barrowman, to name but a few.

The film sees two young friends recruiting a dance crew and staging a talent show in a bid to save their much loved youth club from demolition. But it’s not all plain sailing!
