Transformers gets a new face

Michael Bay earlier today released a statement on his website about a new cast member

I just hired a great new actor for Transformers 4 to star against Mark Wahlberg. Jack Reynor, he is an Irish kid that came to America with 30 bucks in his pocket. Pretty ballsy. Seriously who does that? Anyway I spotted him in a great little Irish movie WHAT RICHARD DID. This kid is the real deal.

Transformers 4, is not a reboot. That word has been floating around on the net.

This movie takes place exactly 4 years after the war in Chicago. The story makes a very natural transition, and reason as to why we have a whole new cast. This Transformers will feel very different than the last three. We are embarking on a new trilogy.

Oz The Great and Powerful

Disney's fantastical adventure "Oz The Great and Powerful," directed by Sam Raimi, imagines the origins of L. Frank Baum's beloved wizard character. When Oscar Diggs (James Franco), a small-time circus magician with dubious ethics, is hurled away from dusty Kansas to the vibrant Land of Oz, he thinks he's hit the jackpot—fame and fortune are his for the taking—that is until he meets three witches, Theodora (Mila Kunis), Evanora (Rachel Weisz) and Glinda (Michelle Williams), who are not convinced he is the great wizard everyone's been expecting. Reluctantly drawn into the epic problems facing the Land of Oz and its inhabitants, Oscar must find out who is good and who is evil before it is too late. Putting his magical arts to use through illusion, ingenuity—and even a bit of wizardry—Oscar transforms himself not only into the great wizard but into a better man as well.

TOP 10 GANGSTER PERFORMANCES

In 1949, Los Angeles was under the corrupt control of Mickey Cohen. As he plans to expand his influence across the west coast, a covert squad of LAPD officers team up to end his reign of terror once and for all. Gangster Squad – in UK cinemas 10th January 2013 - is a gangster film for a new generation, starring Ryan Gosling, Emma Stone, Josh Brolin and, as the iconic mob boss Mickey Cohen, Oscar-winning actor Sean Penn.

Cinema’s fascination with the gangster genre spans almost a century and has allowed some of history’s greatest acting talent a pedestal to showcase their skills. To celebrate the release of Gangster Squad, we invite you on a journey through the greatest gangster performances ever.

James Cagney as Tom Powers in
THE PUBLIC ENEMY
James Cagney’s loose-lipped, tight-fisted Tom Powers is the celebrated actor’s most ruthless screen incarnation. As Powers rises up through the gangster ranks, he becomes more brazen in what he is willing to do, and more obstinate and violent against those who either disagree with him or cross him.
Memorable quote: “… I didn’t ask you for any lip. I asked if you had a drink

9. Lee Marvin as Vince Stone in
THE BIG HEAT
One of cinemas most iconic hard-men plays the role he was made for in Vince Stone, who will casually throw hot coffee in his girlfriend’s face and uses violence to hide his human inadequacies. A true sadist riddled with major character deficiencies all combine to create one of cinema’s greatest bad guys of all time.
Memorable quote: “Hey, that’s nice perfume

8. Ray Liotta as Henry Hill in
GOODFELLAS
Ruthless criminal? Violent wannabe? Whistle-blower? Liotta will never top his sensational performance as real-life mafia gangster Henry Hill. The gangster had it all, but his growing paranoia reaches boiling point when he finds himself on the wrong side of his supposed friends.
Memorable quote: “As far back as I can remember I always wanted to be a gangster

7. Christopher Walken as Frank White in
KING OF NEW YORK
Christopher Walken shows his trademark eccentric style in creating the ultimate modern-day Robin Hood. The actor plays New York drug lord Frank White who, after being released from prison, becomes determined to wipe out the competition, yet instead of keeping the profits he distributes them to poor New Yorkers. Controversial director Abel Ferrara gave Walken free reign which allowed one of his best performances to date.
Memorable quote: “From now on, nothing goes down unless I'm involved. No blackjack no dope deals, no nothing. A nickel bag gets sold in the park, I want in. You guys got fat while everybody starved on the street. Now it's my turn.

6. Joe Pesci as Tommy DeVito in
GOODFELLAS
A pint-sized, foul mouthed, out-of-control villain, Pesci’s real-life gangster Tommy DeVito is not one to mess with. It’s easy to laugh along with his insane antics on screen but audiences learn very quickly not to crack a smile at the man in person. Only Pesci and Ray Liotta knew about the famous “you think I’m funny?” scene when it was shot as legendary director Martin Scorsese wanted genuine reactions from the rest of the cast.
Memorable quote: “Funny how… How am I funny? Funny like I’m a clown… like I amuse you?

5. Al Pacino as Carlito Brigante in
CARLITO’S WAY
Al Pacino stars as a man desperate for redemption after being released from prison. Slowly he reacts to the realisation that he can’t escape his past, and that it will cost him the woman he loves. Pacino’s portrayal of Carlito remains one of his most heartfelt and memorable to date.
Memorable quote: “The dream don't come no closer by itself. We gotta run after it now.

4. Robert DeNiro as Noodles in
ONCE UPON A TIME IN AMERICA
Robert DeNiro’s Noodles returns to New York after 30 years to find that the ghosts of his former gangster life still haunt the streets. His stellar performance is so effective in that he walks through each scene like an apparition, a shadow of the man he was, struggling to face his past.
Memorable quote: “I like the stink of the streets. It makes me feel good. And I like the smell of it, it opens up my lungs. And it gives me a hard-on

3. Al Pacino as Tony Montana in
SCARFACE
The perennial gangster, Al Pacino played Tony Montana as a wild, bordering on insane, violent criminal. Montana approaches the sunny Miami coastline like a destructive hurricane, leaving chaos in his wake. Unhinged and ferocious, he doesn’t think twice about wielding a chainsaw, but it’s the machine gun he lives and dies by.
Memorable quote: “I always tell the truth, even when I lie

2. Marlon Brando as Don Vito Corleone in
THE GODFATHER
Marlon Brando knew how to draw a fine line between hero and criminal and with The Godfather he embodied the defining mafia crime boss - the yardstick every actor has aimed for since. Reportedly, Brando wanted Corleone to “look like a bulldog” so stuffed his cheeks with cotton wool to audition; director Francis Ford Coppola loved it and had a mouthpiece made by a dentist for filming.
Memorable quote: “I'm gonna make him an offer he can't refuse

1. Sean Penn as Mickey Cohen in
GANGSTER SQUAD
One of Hollywood’s most gifted actors, Sean Penn is well known for playing unsympathetic, cruel characters with depth. As renowned gangster Mickey Cohen, who ran Los Angeles with help from loyal goons, corrupt cops and paid politicians, Penn is at his violent best. Cohen at his core was a warrior, and he was not about to give up the West Coast to the LAPD without a fight.
Memorable quote: “A cop that can’t be bought is like a dog with rabies, there’s no medicine for it, you just gotta put it down.

GANGSTER SQUAD IS RELEASED IN UK CINEMAS FROM 10TH JANUARY

The Last Stand gets a poster

After leaving his LAPD narcotics post following a bungled operation that left him wracked with remorse and regret, Sheriff Ray Owens (Schwarzenegger) moved out of Los Angeles and settled into a life fighting what little crime takes place in sleepy border town Sommerton Junction. But that peaceful existence is shattered when Gabriel Cortez (Eduardo Noriega), the most notorious, wanted drug kingpin in the western hemisphere, makes a deadly yet spectacular escape from an FBI prisoner convoy.

With the help of a fierce band of lawless mercenaries led by the icy Burrell (Peter Stormare), Cortez begins racing towards the US-Mexico border at 250 mph in a specially-outfitted Corvette ZR1 with a hostage in tow. Cortez’ path: straight through Summerton Junction, where the whole of the U.S. law enforcement, including Agent John Bannister (Forest Whitaker) will have their final opportunity to intercept him before the violent fugitive slips across the border forever.

At first reluctant to become involved, and then counted out because of the perceived ineptitude of his small town force, Owens ultimately rallies his team and takes the matter into his own hands, setting the stage for a classic showdown.
THE LAST STAND is released in the UK on January 24, 2013

Trance from Danny Boyle

A FILM BY DANNY BOYLE STARRING JAMES MCAVOY, VINCENT CASSEL & ROSARIO DAWSON TO OPEN IN THE UK ON 27 MARCH 2013
London, 3 January 2013 - Pathé and Twentieth Century Fox announce today that Danny Boyle’s new film TRANCE will be released in the UK on Wednesday 27 March 2013.
Following the spectacular London 2012 Olympic Opening Ceremony, Academy Award® winning director Danny Boyle returns to the big screen with this psychological thriller about a fine art auctioneer, mixed up with a criminal gang, who join forces with a hypnotherapist to recover a lost painting. TRANCE stars James McAvoy (Atonement, X-Men First Class), Vincent Cassel (Black Swan, Mesrine) and Rosario Dawson (Seven Pounds, Sin City).
Boyle said: “After a mad summer with London 2012, it's great to get back to the day job; treachery and intrigue on the screen rather than behind-the-scenes! I wanted to do something different, mix things up a bit, and I think TRANCE does that - it's a twisting psychological thriller and I hope an entertaining ride that people will enjoy watching and arguing about afterwards!

The film re-unites Boyle with many of his frequent collaborators including screenwriter John Hodge (Trainspotting, Shallow Grave) and Underworld’s Rick Smith who has composed the original score.

TRANCE is a Pathé, Fox Searchlight Pictures and Film4 presentation of a Cloud Eight/Decibel Films production. The film is produced by Christian Colson (Slumdog Millionaire). Executive Producers are Bernard Bellew, Francois Ivernel, Cameron McCracken, Tessa Ross, Steven Rales and Mark Roybal

GOLDFINGER MOMENT TOPS LIST OF BOND BEST BITS

"No Mr Bond, I expect you to die." named best Bond moment in Sky Movies HDpoll

The laser-charged "No Mr Bond, I expect you to die." confrontation between Goldfinger and Sean Connery's Bond has been named the nation's favourite Bond moment in a new poll from Sky Movies HD to celebrate the return of its dedicated Bond channel Sky Movies 007/HD.

After 50 years and 23 films to date, Sky Movies asked over 2,500 members of the public to name their favourite Bond moment as part of a special programme BOND¹S GREATEST MOMENTS which is available on Sky Movies 007/HD and On Demand.

Hosted by Sky Movies presenter Alex Zane, the programme includes contributions from much-loved Bond stars including Daniel Craig and Judi Dench, Bond directors, producers and celebrity fans including Andrew Garfield and Hugh Jackman.

When informed of the winning moment, which received 10.3% of the votes, current Bond star Daniel Craig admitted: "Yes, that would take some beating."

Second in the poll was the breath-taking pre-title moment in The Spy Who Loved Me which showed Roger Moore skiing off the edge of an Austrian mountain to open a Union Jack parachute (7.6%), which narrowly beat the first ever, now definitive "Bond...James Bond" statement from Sean Connery in 1962's Dr. No, which was third with 5.7%.

Marking a change in direction for Bond at the time, Daniel Craig's exciting parkour chase across a building site in Casino Royale was named in fourth place in the poll (5.3%) ahead of The Man With The Golden Gun's barrel roll car sequence, which saw Roger Moore¹s Bond perform a daring car jump across a Bangkok river (4.5%).

Pierce Brosnan made his entry into the poll in sixth place with 3.3% for his tank chase through St. Petersburg in Goldeneye which just beat Roger Moore's novel crocodile 'stepping stone' escape in Live And Let Die in seventh (2.8%). Speaking about the moment, Hugh Jackman jokes: "Roger Moore escaping some situation by jumping over alligators¹ backs am I remembering that right or was that an SNL spoof? It could have been."

The eighth most popular Bond scene was back to four wheels for Daniel Craig¹s Quantum of Solace Aston Martin DBS race through the banks of Lake Garda (2.2%), followed by Desmond Llewellyn's final scene as Q in The World Is Not Enough where viewers saw him advise Pierce Brosnan to "pay attention 007" for the very last time (2%).

A sombre moment rounds off the top ten of Bond moments, courtesy of On Her Majesty's Secret Service and George Lazenby's only turn as 007. Following a tumultuous relationship and just moments after marrying his bride Tracy (played by Diana Rigg), celebrations were cut short when Blofeld carried out a drive-by-shooting that killed her and left Bond grief-stricken (1.7%).

All of these moments and more feature in BOND¹S GREATEST MOMENTS on Sky Movies 007/HD and On Demand.
