Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 Blu-ray Short Review

TCM2 cover2 stars for this bizarre and slightly pointless Blu-ray conversion.

Now, I understand that the whole Texas Chainsaw machine has a huge cult following, but for the life of me, I just don't get it. Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 is written by L.M. Kit Carson (Breathless, Chinese Boxes) and directed by Tobe Hooper (Poltergeist, Salem's Lot) and features the crazy cannibal family of Drayton Sawyer (Jim Siedow - Texas Chainsaw Massacre).

In this second installment, we start out with two young lads driving into Texas, drunk and shooting road signs. For a joke, they call the local radio station, to speak to the rock DJ, Stretch (Caroline Williams - Days Of Thunder, Halloween II). She overhears what appears to be a chainsaw attack, as the lads play chicken with the wrong truck.

Maleficent gets a trailer

From Disney comes “Maleficent”—the untold story of Disney’s most iconic villain from the 1959 classic “Sleeping Beauty.” A beautiful, pure-hearted young woman, Maleficent has an idyllic life growing up in a peaceable forest kingdom, until one day when an invading army threatens the harmony of the land. Maleficent rises to be the land’s fiercest protector, but she ultimately suffers a ruthless betrayal—an act that begins to turn her pure heart to stone. Bent on revenge, Maleficent faces an epic battle with the invading king’s successor and, as a result, places a curse upon his newborn infant Aurora. As the child grows, Maleficent realizes that Aurora holds the key to peace in the kingdom—and perhaps to Maleficent’s true happiness as well.

More Lego characters

The LEGO Movie follows Emmet, an ordinary, rules-following, perfectly average LEGO minifigure who is mistakenly identified as the most extraordinary person and the key to saving the world. Emmet (Chris Pratt) is drafted into a fellowship of strangers on an epic quest to stop an evil tyrant, a journey for which he is hopelessly and hilariously underprepared.
The greatest movie ever assembled, which is set to hit cinemas in 14th February 2014.

Silent Night DVD Short Review

3 Stars of Gory Mid-West Town Revenge.
silentnightcoverCryer, Wisconsin is a town in decline since the Mill closed. People have left and those that remain are bitter (one very bitter) and jaded.
Nobody looks forward to tomorrow or getting up to work on Christmas Eve, especially Deputy Aubrey Bradimore, (Jaime King, Sin City) who is about to spend her first Christmas without her partner and is even more reluctant because Deputy Jordan, (Brendan Fehr, X Men: First Class) silentnightFrylightsis supposed to be on duty, but he is M.I.A. after finding a woman far more interesting than work.
silentnightsanta3But someone isn't happy with this turn of events, hence we hear screams as a man starts to shave. The trussed up woman continues to squirm as this huge man gets dressed up in a Santa mask and outfit but this one has a massive double headed axe.

5 Star film all the way.

Now with an extra 12 minutes.
Peter Jackson (Lord of the Rings trilogy) is the god of making epics and this first episode of the Hobbit (J.R.R. Tolkien) is just showing the others how it is done.
(Take notice those thinking of doing the new Star Wars episodes)
3dhobbitgandalfGandalf (Ian McKellan - Lord of the Rings trilogy) turns up in Hobbiton and arrives at Bilbo's (Martin Freeman - Hot Fuzz) house.  Not getting the welcome he wanted he leaves a mark on the door indicating that this is the meeting place for the displaced Dwarfs of Erebor that wish to retake their ancestral home.

Robocop gets a new trailer and a poster

When the first trailer hit the internet back in September, I did a piece over here about my thoughts on the remake and the below, new, trailer hasn't made me any happier with the film.

In RoboCop, the year is 2028 and multinational conglomerate OmniCorp is at the center of robot technology. Their drones are winning American wars around the globe and now they want to bring this technology to the home front. Alex Murphy (Kinnaman) is a loving husband, father and good cop doing his best to stem the tide of crime and corruption in Detroit. After he is critically injured in the line of duty, OmniCorp utilizes their remarkable science of robotics to save Alex's life. He returns to the streets of his beloved city with amazing new abilities, but with issues a regular man has never had to face before.
