The Dark Knight Rises DVD and Blu-Ray Release Review

The Dark Knight Rises is a brilliant film, totally worthy of 5 stars. This is the 3rd and final instalment in the Dark Knight series, starring Christian Bale (Batman Begins, The Dark Knight). I would definitely suggest that you watch the first two films before you see this one, to make sure you get the full effect.

In this final film, we see Bruce Wayne begin in a city which no longer needs him, and tracks his struggle to come to terms with his new situation.

As ever, the story is well thought out and well written, and the script allows the many stars in this film to really get their teeth into the roles.

There are lots of big names in The Dark Knight Rises, Gary Oldman (Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, Leon), Tom Hardy (Inception, Layer Cake), Joseph Gordon-Levitt (Looper, Inception), Marion Cotillard, Anne Hathaway, Morgan Freeman and Michael Caine, among others.

The Dark Knight Trilogy has been directed by Christopher Nolan (Inception) and included on the disc is a short feature by him ; The Journey of Bruce Wayne.

This is one to watch, I would recommend it to everybody. What more can I say? Go out and buy it!

The Dark Knight Rises breaks all records at BFI IMAX

The Dark Knight Rises takes £1 million in advance booking at BFI IMAX, breaking all previous sales records - Over 60,000 tickets bought and 43 shows sold out so far

18 July 2012 – London’s BFI IMAX cinema announces today that it has now sold 62,300 tickets for The Dark Knight Rises – The IMAX Experience, grossing £1,001,300, two days ahead of the film’s opening this Friday 20 July.

Since tickets went on sale five weeks ago, thousands of Batman fans have been snapping them up to ensure they see the film in the best possible way – on Britain’s biggest screen.

The figures for both the advance box office gross and the number of tickets sold have beaten the cinema’s previous best-ever advance sales, which were for Avatar in December 2009 (£607,000 sales for 47,000 tickets).

The Dark Knight Rises also broke BFI IMAX records for highest first day sales ever (24,754 tickets grossing £409,838) and the highest first week sales ever (38,658 tickets grossing £634,013). Both these records were previously held by Prometheus.

43 shows are now sold out, including screenings for early birds at 04.25 and 04.55 this weekend.

Nolan is utilising IMAX cameras even more extensively than he did on The Dark Knight, which had marked the first time ever that a major feature film was partially shot with IMAX cameras. Over an hour of the footage from the film is in IMAX format, with the image filling the giant screen.

Dennis Laws, General and Technical Manager, BFI IMAX comments: “These figures prove that seeing The Dark Knight Rises in IMAX, to truly experience Christopher Nolan’s incredible vision for the film, is an unmissable event this summer. People are even flying in from abroad especially to see the film at BFI IMAX. We want as many people as possible to be able to see it, so we’re already adding extra shows to meet the demand.”

The Dark Knight comes out of the sewers

Warner Bros has released a new poster. When I got the email I was expecting that Warner Bros had replaced some real manhole covers around the country / world with special Gotham versions but I was dissapointed!

With less than 2 months to go before Batman is back on the big screen, Warner Bros. has just sent over the new poster. It's a passable poster but not groundbreaking or all that interesting. It's like the artist has been going through a checklist:

The Dark Knight Rises again

Hot on the heals of Sunday's launch of the new Prometheus trailer, Warner Bros. has got into the act and released the new The Dark Knight one. It's as unimpressive as the Prometheus one is epic. The only redeming feature is that we get to see some of the new vehicles and the new, and returning, characters.

I first saw this poster hit the internet over the weekend but I held out as it may have just have been the US poster. I have been proven incorrect as the poster looks exactly like the US one.

Yesterday we saw the launch of The Dark Knight Rises trailer. I said then that there wasn't a synopsis available. Warner Bros. has now released all I can describe as a "non-synopsis". It tells you everything about the film apart from what's going to happen in the film

In addition, Paul Franklin and Chris Corbould, who both won Oscars® for the effects in “Inception,” supervised the visual and special effects, respectively. The music is composed by Oscar® winner Hans Zimmer (“The Lion King”).

In helming the film, Christopher Nolan is utilizing IMAX® cameras even more extensively than he did on “The Dark Knight,” which had marked the first time ever that a major feature film was partially shot with IMAX cameras.

The locations span three continents and include the American cities of Pittsburgh, New York and Los Angeles, as well as sites in India, England and Scotland.

The Dark Knight Rises gets a trailer

No synopsis exists as yet apart from the fact that we know that Christian Bale resumes his role as Batman and Anne Hathaway will appear as Catwoman.
