Magic Mike

With a synopsis that calls the film "this generation's Saturday Night Fever" and a trailer that doesn't seem to back this up comes Magic Mike. A stripper by night and a maker of furniture by day... It makes it sound more like Flashdance to me !

From incomparable director Steven Soderbergh (Ocean’s 11,12,13, Traffic), comes this generation’s Saturday Night Fever, starring Channing Tatum (Dear John, GI Joe, Step Up), Alex Pettyfer (I Am Number Four) and Matthew McConaughey (Ghosts of Girlfriends Past, Fool’s Gold).

To a rebellious 19-year-old kid (Pettyfer) looking for independence from his family, Magic Mike (Tatum) seems like the perfect role model: he’s got a nice car, a nice apartment, and a seemingly endless supply of women. What’s his secret? He’s a male stripper, and when the kid dives headlong into Magic Mike’s world, his mad dancing skills and hunger for excitement make for an unforgettable summer...

Sexy, funny and shocking, this film is a hedonistic thrill ride with a powerful undertow. A razor sharp cast - led by top liner Channing Tatum in a career-defining turn as the titular Magic Mike devours the up-to-the moment freight train of a script, and the result will be relentlessly entertaining and sure to be one of the most talked about films of the year... and let’s not forget the price-of-admission dancing sequences...

About Dogwoof
Dogwoof is the UK’s leading independent documentary film distributor. Founded in 2004, initial releases had a strong focus on social issues: Black Gold was widely credited with shifting Starbucks’ position on fairtrade; The Age of Stupid led to the 10:10 campaign; The End of the Line was largely responsible for Marks & Spencer and Pret a Manger changing their sustainable fishing policy. Recent Dogwoof releases include the 2011 Oscar®-nominated documentaries Gasland and Restrepo, which stands as iTunes’ highest selling documentary in the UK, and also Countdown to Zero which premiered in a 50-site simultaneous satellite feed. UK documentary Dreams of a Life premiered at the London Film Festival and was followed by a series of director and cast screenings across London, resulting in an unprecedented 11 week run in Odeon cinemas in London’s West End. Also in 2012, Dogwoof launched two new initiatives: http://popupcinema.net/ which seeks to empower local entrepreneurs to screen Dogwoof films locally and in non-traditional venues, and http://dogwoofsales.com/ , a consultancy agent-based service designed to help documentary filmmakers promote and sell their films globally through their network of fellow distributors and broadcasters. A Few Best Men

With quite an eclectic choice of stars in the film. With "That guy from the BT ads" and "Sandie from Grease", A Few Best Men seems to be as mad as the casting. This is a good thing. Throw in a sheep in suspenders, a gimp mask and a coked-up mother-in-law then you have a great premise for a film. Then place it in Australia, so you can get some great sun and not rain...

This is the new outing from the writer of Death At A Funeral. If you saw that film (or the US remake) then you probably have a good idea of what this film may end up like. Chaotic mess!

Prepare to meet the worst best men ever in the outrageous comedy A FEW BEST MEN, starring Xavier Samuel (Twilight: Eclipse), Kris Marshall (Love Actually), Kevin Bishop (TV’s Star Stories), Rebel Wilson (Bridesmaids) and Olivia Newton-John (Grease).

When David (Xavier Samuel) journeys to Australia to marry the love of his life, Mia, he invites his three best mates – Graham (Kevin Bishop), Luke (Tim Draxl) and Tom (Kris Marshall) – to travel with him. Having barely met his bride-to-be, they aren’t too impressed at the thought of losing their best friend to married life on the other side of the world but resolve to give him a send-off to remember. After a final carnage-filled stag night the big day arrives and the trio of ill-prepared best men end up giving a whole new meaning to the phrase 'for better or worse' as a chaos-filled wedding, complete with a deranged drug dealer, a cross-dressed sheep, a coked-up mother-in-law (Olivia Newton John) and possibly the most disastrous speech of all time, threaten to derail the marriage before it’s even begun!

The Dark Knight Rises again

Hot on the heals of Sunday's launch of the new Prometheus trailer, Warner Bros. has got into the act and released the new The Dark Knight one. It's as unimpressive as the Prometheus one is epic. The only redeming feature is that we get to see some of the new vehicles and the new, and returning, characters.

Leading an all-star international cast, Oscar® winner Christian Bale (“The Fighter”) again plays the dual role of Bruce Wayne/Batman. The film also stars Anne Hathaway, as Selina Kyle; Tom Hardy, as Bane; Oscar® winner Marion Cotillard (“La Vie en Rose”), as Miranda Tate; and Joseph Gordon-Levitt, as John Blake. Returning to the main cast, Oscar® winner Michael Caine (“The Cider House Rules”) plays Alfred; Gary Oldman is Commissioner Gordon; and Oscar® winner Morgan Freeman (“Million Dollar Baby”) reprises the role of Lucius Fox.

The screenplay is written by Christopher Nolan and Jonathan Nolan, story by Christopher Nolan & David S. Goyer. The film is produced by Emma Thomas, Christopher Nolan and Charles Roven, who previously teamed on “Batman Begins” and the record-breaking blockbuster “The Dark Knight.” The executive producers are Benjamin Melniker, Michael E. Uslan, Kevin De La Noy and Thomas Tull, with Jordan Goldberg serving as co-producer. The film is based upon characters appearing in comic books published by DC Comics. Batman was created by Bob Kane.

Joyful Noise

It's Sister Act without the habits. It's a church choir that's rubbish and then gets a new member... Do I need to go on about the rest of the plot. It does seem from the below trailer that it's by the numbers, like the lazy photoshoped poster. What is it with 2012 posters? Please design something good and interesting instead of just putting the principle actors together on a nice background!

To watch this video, you need the latest Flash-Player and active javascript in your browser.

Oscar® nominees Queen Latifah (“Chicago,” “Hairspray”) and Dolly Parton (“Transamerica,” “Steel Magnolias,” “Nine to Five”) star in Alcon Entertainment’s and Warner Bros. Pictures’ “Joyful Noise,” a funny and inspirational story of music, hope, love and renewal.

The small town of Pacashau, Georgia, has fallen on hard times, but the people are counting on the Divinity Church Choir to lift their spirits by winning the National Joyful Noise Competition.  The choir has always known how to sing in harmony, but the discord between its two leading ladies now threatens to tear them apart.  Their newly appointed director, Vi Rose Hill (Latifah), stubbornly wants to stick with their tried-and-true traditional style, while the fiery G.G. Sparrow (Parton) thinks tried-and-true translates to tired-and-old.

Shaking things up even more is the arrival of G.G.’s rebellious grandson, Randy (Jeremy Jordan).  Randy has an ear for music, but he also has an eye for Vi Rose’s beautiful and talented daughter, Olivia (Keke Palmer), and the sparks between the two teenagers are causing even more heat between G.G. and Vi Rose.

If these two strong-willed women can overcome their differences and find a common voice, they—and their choir—may make the most joyful noise of all.
