London, Friday January 11 2013 - Head to East London this weekend and you're in for an arcade inspired treat. Disney has transformed one iconic street into an 80's video game. "8 Bit Lane" in London's Brick Lane has been created to celebrate the release of Disney's Wreck-it Ralph, a hilarious new arcade-game-hopping animated adventure in UK cinemas from February 8th. The public will experience an 8 bit London taxi, postbox, pigeon, tree, clouds, CCTV camera, and leaking water pipe.

8 Bit Lane will also showcase the world's first blipp-able building using Blippar's visual discovery app. When Wreck-It Ralph fans 'blipp' The Nicelanders house on the wall, the house will emerge in 3D and they will be invited to play a game featuring Ralph himself.

Disney engaged renowned film production sculptor Aden Hynes to create the bespoke pieces of art. "My whole life has become somewhat pixilated over the last month, I played 8 bit games as a teenager, so it was great to realise that vision in three dimensions." Says Aden, "In many ways the retro styling has much more charm than the hyper reality of today, I've never been asked to make an 8 Bit taxi before!"

"Wreck-It Ralph" takes moviegoers on a hilarious, arcade-game-hopping journey in which Ralph (voice of John C. Reilly)—tired of being overshadowed by Fix-It Felix, Jr. (voice of Jack McBrayer), the "good guy" star of their game—sets off on a quest to prove he's got what it takes to be a hero.

"Wreck-It Ralph" features cameos from both classic and modern real-life games. Lending their voices, among others, are Roger Craig Smith (Ezio from franchise "Assassin's Creed") as Sonic the Hedgehog, and from "Street Fighter"—Reuben Langdon ("Street Fighter") as Ken, Kyle Hebert ("Street Fighter") as Ryu, and Gerald Rivers ("Street Fighter") as M. Bison.

THE HUMAN CENTIPEDE COMES TO THE UK’S SCARIEST ATTRACTION FOR HALLOWEEN

The UK’s scariest attraction will be teaming up with one of the world’s most controversial cult horror films for its most terrifying Halloween ever - featuring a live human centipede.

The London Bridge Experience & London Tombs have teamed up with the director of The Human Centipede - Tom Six, and its UK distributor Bounty Films - to recreate the terror of the film to give visitors the scare of their life.

As part of the London Bridge-based attraction’s Halloween programme PhoboPhobia ‘After Dark Extreme Scare – The Human Centipede’- will feature sets recreating the horror of the film, including the evil Dr Heiter’s laboratory, clips from the film and audio as well as the main attraction - a live human centipede.

The Human Centipede(First Sequence) film will also be screened but will only be available to a select few and only those booking early via Ticketmaster will get the chance to watch the film. The film features a mad doctor who kidnaps and mutilates a trio of tourists in order to turn them into a human centipede.

The film has a cult following and has become extremely controversial with its sequel – The Human Centipede 2 being banned in Britain and labelled as the ‘sickest movie of all time’.

The film’s Director Tom Six, who visited the attraction recently, said: “I went through the London Tombs and I loved every second of it. The actors really scare the hell out of you and the sets you go through are amazing and could easily compete with the best horror film sets.”

James Kislingbury, General Manger of the London Bridge Experience & London Tombs, said: “This is going to be our scariest Halloween ever, it will be a spectacular event and our scarers will form the live human centipede, they are all so keen to be involved that we have had to hold a ballot.”

‘After Dark Extreme Scare – The Human Centipede’ - Halloween’s Most Hellish Event will be running from 7pm to late from October 27th to 31st.

As well as the ‘After Dark Extreme Scare’ in the London Tombs - during the day visitors will be able to learn the ‘History Behind The Horror’ – exploring 2000 years of London Bridge’s dark Halloween history – travel back in time and be taken on a journey led by first-class actors and stunning special effects.

After the London Bridge Experience you will be given the option to descend into the London Tombs – winner of the ‘Best Year Round Scare Attraction’ at the Screamie Awards for the past three years.

A guardian angel tour is also available for younger guests allowing them to experience the tombs in a less scary format for those visiting during the daytime show.

‘History Behind The Horror’ is running from October 17 to November 1 from 10am to 6pm.

Tickets for both events are limited so early booking is essential. Tickets are £23 for adults, £21 concessions – OAPs and Students; £17 for Under 18s – although the age limit for ‘After Dark Extreme Scare – The Human Centipede’ is not recommended for under 16s.

The attraction will also be running the first Halloween Buried Alive Ball at a separate location from October 27 to 29 from 6pm – featuring a visit to the attraction before a meal and dancing.

Transformers 3 Fan Screening

Yesterday saw a fan screening at the BFI Imax in Waterloo. Star Rosie Huntingdon-Whitely and director Michael Bay both came down to keep the crowd entertained.  Michael does say that he's a bit tired but who would blame him as he was in Moscow a few days ago for the World Premiere. The girls with the Autobot poster got the shock of their lives as you can see in the video...

On Saturday, June 25, 2011, in celebration of the birthday of Peyo, the creator of the Smurfs (born June 25, 1928), Columbia Pictures and Sony Pictures Animation will coordinate events all over the world as part of Global Smurfs Day, a worldwide event in anticipation of the release of the Smurfs’ trip to movie theaters, it was announced today by Marc Weinstock, president, Worldwide Marketing for Sony Pictures. Columbia Pictures’ and Sony Pictures Animation’s The Smurfs will be released in cinemas in the UK and Ireland on 10th August 2011.

Commenting on the announcement, Weinstock said, “There are few characters as iconic as The Smurfs – for more than 50 years, they have been icons of popular culture, appealing across generations. Peyo’s creation endures, and that’s why Global Smurfs Day is a fitting way to celebrate his birthday.”

On Global Smurfs Day, as participants enjoy fun Smurf-related activities in cities worldwide, they will be invited and encouraged to come to the events in Smurf costume in an attempt to set a new Guinness World Records™ title for Largest Gathering of People Dressed as Smurfs within a 24-hour period in Multiple Venues. The events will be synchronized around the world – this will see the most Smurfs that have ever been gathered at the same time. To achieve recognition from Guinness World Records™ the global events must collectively add up to more than 2,510 Smurfs. Adjudicators from Guinness World Records™ will be on hand in 12 cities around the world as it is expected that hundreds of participants in each city will come to the event dressed as Smurfs (white Smurf hat, white pants and shoes, and body painted blue). While all are being asked to arrive at the event in head-to-toe Smurf costume, each event will have Smurfs hats and blue T-shirts available.

Among the cities participating in the record attempt as part of Global Smurfs Day are Brussels, Belgium (Peyo’s home country); Athens, Greece; Scheveningen (The Hague), Holland; Dublin, Ireland; Mexico City, Mexico; Panama City, Panama; Warsaw, Poland; Moscow, Russia; Johannesburg, South Africa; New York, USA; and London, UK. Events include a Smurfs Experience in London as The O2 is turned into The “O-Blue" and a family event at New York’s “Smurf Street Blueport” (a/k/a South Street Seaport); also, Peyo’s family will be on hand to join in the fun in their home country of Belgium.

In addition, there will be Global Smurf Day events in many other locations around the world. For example, in Spain, the village of Júzcar, in the province of Malaga – one of the famous White Towns of Andalusia, renowned for their characteristic whitewashed walls – will kick off the celebrations by painting the entire town blue for the occasion. In addition, “life-size” (that is, 7½-inch tall) Smurf figurines will inhabit Paris’s Trocadero Terrace (in front of the Eiffel Tower), the main square in Reykjavik, Iceland, Bogotá, Colombia’s El Dorado International Airport, and high-traffic areas in Geneva and Zurich, Switzerland. In Taiwan, the landmark Red House will be transformed into a “Blue House,” populated by Smurf figurines. In Copenhagen, Denmark, the event will be at the Tivoli Gardens amusement park, where participants can enjoy face painting, dance-alongs, and more fun-filled events. And in Los Angeles, at Santa Monica Place, there will be a celebration of Peyo’s birthday with Smurfy activities.

When the evil wizard Gargamel chases the tiny blue Smurfs out of their village, they tumble from their magical world and into ours -- in fact, smack dab in the middle of Central Park. Just three apples high and stuck in the Big Apple, the Smurfs must find a way to get back to their village before Gargamel tracks them down.
