Evil Dead DVD and Blu-ray Short Review

WOW. Finally, 5 stars of PROPER horror.

Evil Dead is a remake of the cult horror film The Evil Dead, revealed to the world in 1981. This new version bears all the signatures of the original, directed by Fede Alvarez, a relative newcomer, but produced by Sam Raimi and Robert G. Tapert (The Evil Dead, Hercules: The Legendary Journeys) , the maestros responsible for the first incarnation.

It is also produced by the mighty Bruce Campbell who played Ash in the original film and who makes an un-credited appearance in this one.

The Cursed word. With with the Evil Dead

Evil will be unleashed at tonight to celebrate the upcoming release of STUDIOCANAL’s Evil Dead (in UK cinemas April 18th)

The Cursed Word will be launching tonight on Facebook, a cryptic clue driven challenge which will take place over a week for every die-hard (pardon the pun!) Evil Dead fan.

Pages of The Book Of The Dead which contain parts of a ‘cursed word’ have been hidden. Players need to put their detective skills to the test to find all the pieces and translate the word into English for a chance to win a range of exciting prizes. Prizes include a Book Of The Dead iPad, some iPad minis, signed Bruce Campbell goodies, Zombie Evacuation experience day, and horror DVDs as runners up prizes. Evil gets more images

We've just been sent over a ton of new images from the remake/update of the classic 1980s horror film, The Evil Dead.

Evil lives again in 2013! From the producers of the original cult horror classic comes a terrifying new vision set to carve out its place as one of the must-see horror films of the year for both newcomers and genre aficionados alike. Five twenty-something friends become holed up in a remote cabin. When they discover a Book of the Dead, they unwittingly summon up dormant demons living in the nearby woods, which possess the youngsters in succession until only one is left intact to fight for survival.

The Evil Dead is back

When this hit my in box I was at first a bit sceptical as it could have been a re-imagined take on the film. It did mention a remake and that also can fill you with dread like when the remade the 80s classic Fright Night a couple of years ago to both critical and box office disappointment. This one, at least from the trailer, seems to be close to the original enough with a nod to the modern idea of what a horror / thriller should be like.
