Alan gets a new poster

A new poster for Alpha Papa has hit my in box.  I'm not sure about what has happened to Alan's right arm but it doesn't look like it should be there.

Another thing is.  If you're at Glastonbury this weekend, look out for a massive red Alan Partridge banner. If you see it, take a pic and tweet it.  Just remember to use the hashtag #IAmSeigeFace for your chance to win some Alan Partridge goodies.

Steve Coogan’s famous local radio DJ/one time talk show host Alan Partridge is one of the UK's most-loved comedy characters. He comes to the cinema screen in this summer’s unmissable British comedy ALAN PARTRIDGE: ALPHA PAPA.

When Alan’s radio station, North Norfolk Digital, is taken over by a new media conglomerate, it sets in motion a chain of events which see Alan having to work with the police to defuse a potentially violent siege. Will Alan talk round disgruntled colleague Pat Farrell? Will there be shots fired in anger? Will Alan become a public hero or simply another footnote in the history of broadcasting?

WARNER BROS. PICTURES UK & IRELAND LAUNCH A BIG LEGO CREATION CONTEST FOR CHILDREN

Winners have the chance for their creations to appear in the upcoming LEGO movie due to be released in cinemas in 2014

This contest is for children aged 5-13 years old. As of today, participants can register on www.lego-themovie.co.uk and they have until the end of December to design and build the best LEGO creation. This is an opportunity to receive 5 family passes to LEGOLAND (Windsor), but most of all, the chance to see their creation appear in the new LEGO movie from Warner Bros. Pictures and Village Roadshow Pictures, directed by Phil Lord & Christopher Miller, and set for a 2014 release.

Will Arnett, Elizabeth Banks, Chris Pratt and Morgan Freeman will lend their vocal talents to the LEGO® world, starring as characters in the upcoming original 3D animated LEGO feature, currently in production, from Warner Bros. Pictures and Village Roadshow Pictures.
The film, the first-ever full length theatrical LEGO movie, follows Emmet, an ordinary, rules-following, perfectly average LEGO minifigure who is mistakenly identified as the most extraordinary person and the key to saving the world. He is drafted into a fellowship of strangers on an epic quest to stop an evil tyrant, a journey for which Emmet is hopelessly and hilariously underprepared.
Chris Pratt (“Moneyball”) stars as Emmet. Oscar® winner Morgan Freeman (“Million Dollar Baby”) and Elizabeth Banks (“The Hunger Games,” Emmy nominee for “30 Rock”), will star as two of Emmet’s fellow travelers: Vitruvius, an old mystic; and tough-as-nails Lucy, who mistakes Emmet for the savior of the world and guides him on his quest. She also calls upon the mysterious Batman, a LEGO® minifigure voiced by Will Arnett (Emmy nominee, “30 Rock”), with whom she shares a history.

The 3D computer animated adventure will open nationwide on February 28, 2014.

Phil Lord & Christopher Miller (“21 Jump Street,” Golden Globe nominee “Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs”) are directing from their original screenplay, story by Dan Hageman & Kevin Hageman and Phil Lord & Christopher Miller, based on LEGO construction toys. The film will incorporate some of the most popular LEGO figures while introducing several new characters, inviting fans who have enjoyed the brand’s innovative toys and hugely popular video games for generations to experience their visually unique LEGO world as never seen before.

The film will be produced by Dan Lin (“Sherlock Holmes,” “Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows”) and Roy Lee (“The Departed,” “How to Train Your Dragon”). It will be distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company, and in select territories by Village Roadshow Pictures.

Is it just me?

Miranda Hart has decided to share a wealth of awkward experiences and embarrassing stories and provide a Miran-ual for life in her brand new book Is It Just Me?

In order to allay her fears that we all come-a-cropper in life, she is asking you, the Great British public, to get in touch and share your pain because a problem shared is a … well something we can all laugh at.

Publishers Hodder And Stoughton, have launched an initiative entitled ‘No It’s Us Too’ which offers readers the chance to appear in an e-book, sharing their own cringe worthy tales.  Launching in July, the ‘No It’s Us Too’ mission will see Miranda choosing her favourite Twitter stories, the best of which will be illustrated and featured on a special ‘No It’s Us Too’ tumblr and then anthologised in e-book compilation in September.

All you need to do to get involved is tweet your embarrassing stories to @NoItsUsToo using hashtag #IsItJustMe and the best ones will be published by Hodder in the No Its Us Too! eBook compilation.
In her brilliant first book Is It Just Me? Miranda Hart confides hilariously uncomfortable truths about her life and offers inimitable advice for how to navigate those unexpected delicate moments. Witty, wise and ‘such fun’, this is a much-needed manual for the avoidance of embarrassment - it is, in fact, a Miran-ual, for all those out there who often wonder ‘Is It Just Me?’
Is It Just Me? is published on 11 October 11, 2012.

Year on year the competition attracts a high calibre of film makers vying for the Grand Prix of £10,000 and the opportunity it brings to further their career in film. With over 500 entries received this year, 12 finalists were selected to go before the judging panel to decide the winner.

The winners were announced in the following categories; Best Animation was Tim Wilson’s How To Be Boss, What Plato Says, The People’s Choice Award went to Francis Annan for Going Up, the Judges Commendation went to Jonathan Brooks’ The Devil’s Apricot and The Grand Prix Winner was awarded to Alex Emslie for The Boss.

Grand Prix Winner Alex Emslie said, "It's an incredible feeling to have won the reed.co.uk Short Film Competition. I'm massively happy that everyone's hard graft on the short paid off, it was a great shoot and I hope this means we can work together again soon."

Paul Weiland, judge and long time supporter of the reed.co.uk Short Film Awards comments on the winning short: “The Boss is a really ambitious project, which takes an original idea and combines it with well judged editing, superb use of special effects, stunning cinematography and incredible attention to detail. This year’s Grand Prix winning entry captures everything there is to love about short film.

reed.co.uk Short Film Competition was established in 2010 to give aspiring film makers a platform to have their work seen by the industry and the opportunity to further their career in film. W.E. is a beautifully crafted, passionate tale charting one of the greatest royal love stories of the modern age; the enduring relationship between twice divorced American Wallis Simpson (Andrea Riseborough, Brighton Rock, Made in Dagenham) and King Edward VIII, (James D’Arcy, Master and Commander and the forthcoming Hitchcock) and the toll taken on Wallis as she comprehends the magnitude of the sacrifice that has been made for her. As she learns more about what Wallis gave up in choosing to be with Edward, Wally in turn starts to find the courage to follow her own heart and create her own happiness.

Reed.co.uk Short Film Competition was established in 2010 to give aspiring film makers a platform to have their work seen by the industry and the opportunity to further their career in film.  In addition to the Grand Prix, the competition also awards prizes for the Judges Commendation, The People’s Choice Award and Best Animation for which 3 finalists have been selected.

Oscar Sharp won the first competition with Sign Language and is currently working with Olivia Colman (Tyrannosaur, The Iron Lady) and Shaun Dooley (The Woman in Black) on his latest film.  Last year’s winner Ben Ridolfi is currently developing his first feature.

Following last year’s competition, shortlisted filmmakers from the first two competitions were invited to create a TV ad for reed.co.uk, six of which were selected and put before a public vote.  The winning entry, Super Reed, by Jonathan Brooks, Mat Laroche and comedy trio The Wogans, aired on major television networks in the UK earlier this year.

win an iPad with Sherlock Holmes

Available on Blu-ray™, DVD and digital download 14th May

To celebrate the release of Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows on Blu-ray Triple play, DVD and digital download 14th May, we are putting the nation’s sleuthing skills to the test and inviting you to play the Urban Camouflage Challenge.

As part of this overall activity, we are running three separate competitions on three separate days (Wednesday 9th, Friday 11th and Monday 14th May). On each of those days, three conundrums will be published by various partners using social media channels.

Taken together, the three conundrums on a given day will reveal a specific location within a major city in the UK. At the chosen location, on that day, a Sherlock Holmes inspired artist will be utilising his legendary camouflage abilities to blend into his surroundings to avoid detection.

The winner on each day is the first person to unlock the clues within the conundrums, identify the location, go there in person, find our Sherlock Holmes inspired artist and utter the phrase “My curse is I see everything”. The winner on each day wins an iPad.

Urban Camouflage partners:
  • Conundrum 1: Stephen Fry - @stephenfry - who plays Mycroft in Sherlock Holmes: A Game Of Shadows, will tweet part one of the conundrum pre 11am on each day*
  • Conundrum 2: Play.com’s Facebook page will post part two at 11.30am*
  • Conundrum 3: IGN UK’s Twitter account @IGNUK will tweet the third and final part at 12pm*
* Timings are subject to change

Put your sleuthing skills to the test and play the Urban Camouflage Challenge!
Dates to play: Wednesday 9th May, Friday 11th May & Monday 14th May
Around the globe, headlines break the news: a scandal takes down an Indian cotton tycoon; a Chinese opium trader dies of an apparent overdose; bombings in Strasbourg and Vienna; the death of an American steel magnate... no one sees the connective thread between these seemingly random events—no one, that is, except the great Sherlock Holmes, who has discerned a deliberate web of death and destruction. At its center sits a singularly sinister spider: Moriarty.

Holmes’ investigation into Moriarty’s plot becomes more dangerous as it leads him and Watson out of London to France, Germany and finally Switzerland. But the cunning Moriarty is always one step ahead, and moving perilously close to completing his ominous plan. If he succeeds, it will not only bring him immense wealth and power but alter the course of history.

In Silent House, Sarah, along with her uncle and father, prepare their long-time family summer home, recently violated by squatters, for sale. But broken windows and cracks in the plaster are the least of their problems when they discover they are not alone and there’s more than just mold concealed behind the walls. Over the course of 85 harrowing minutes, their idyllic isolated retreat is transformed into a site of horror as the family’s past returns to taunt then terrorize them, exposing a hidden and distorted history.

Silent House, a re-imagining of the Uruguayan film La Casa Muda, is told in real time in one continuous take, just as Sarah sees – and experiences – it.
Silent House is released in cinemas on 4th May 2012.
