7th February 2013 - Koch Media announced today that they have secured the rights to theatrical and home entertainment distribution in the U.K. for RED DAWN from Metro-Goldwyn Mayer Studios Inc. Exploding onto screens 15th March 2013, RED DAWN is an adrenaline-fuelled action thriller with a heavyweight cast of young stars that will have audiences hooked.

A re-boot of the 1984 cult-classic hit film featuring Patrick Swayze and Charlie Sheen, RED DAWN stars man-of-the- moment Chris Hemsworth (Thor, Snow White And the Huntsman, Avengers) and a host of bright young talent including Josh Hutcherson (The Hunger Games), Josh Peck (The Wackness), Adrianne Palicki (G.I. Joe: Retaliation, Friday Night Lights), Connor Cruise (Seven), Isabel Lucas (Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen) and Jeffrey Dean Morgan (Watchmen, The Possession, Grey’s Anatomy).

I managed to find a US trailer for the film. It's not as bad as I though it would be...

In RED DAWN, a city in Washington State awakens to the surreal sight of North Korean paratroopers dropping from the sky – the U.S. has been invaded and their hometown is the initial target. Quickly and without warning, the citizens find themselves prisoners and their town under enemy occupation. Determined to fight back, a group of young patriots seek refuge in the surrounding woods, training and reorganising themselves into a guerilla group of fighters. Taking inspiration from their high school mascot, they call themselves the “Wolverines”, banding together to protect one another, liberate their town from its captors, and take back their freedom.

The Evil Dead is back

When this hit my in box I was at first a bit sceptical as it could have been a re-imagined take on the film. It did mention a remake and that also can fill you with dread like when the remade the 80s classic Fright Night a couple of years ago to both critical and box office disappointment. This one, at least from the trailer, seems to be close to the original enough with a nod to the modern idea of what a horror / thriller should be like.

In the much anticipated remake of the 1981 cult-hit horror film, five twenty-something friends become holed up in a remote cabin. When they discover a Book of the Dead, they unwittingly summon dormant demons living in the nearby woods, which possess the youngsters in succession until only one is left intact to fight for survival.

Pusher gets an Engish language remake

Vertigo has just announced the release of the English language remake of Nicolas Winding's 1996 Danish classic. Not a lot has been released, so far, for the film but expect the trailer to be released sometime.

An East London dealer (Richard Coyle) grows increasingly desperate after a botched get rich quick scam leaves him with a large debt to repay to a ruthless drug lord.

Fast-paced, visually striking, witty and with some of Britain’s finest acting talents, PUSHER will have you gripped from beginning to end.

Total Recall gets an image

Sony has just released the first image for the upcoming remake of the 1990 Arnie classic, Total Recall. This time we have Colin Farrell as Quaid.

As the nation states Euromerica and New Shanghai vie for supremacy, a factory worker (Farrell) begins to suspect that he's a spy, though he is unaware which side of the fight he's on.

Put on your dancing shoes - Footloose is back

Finally, after many years in "Development Hell", the remake of the 1984 classic, Footloose, is about to make its way onto the silver screen.

This also got me thinking ... What was the original Footloose trailer like? so with a couple of minutes on youTube I have the answer. There are a lot of simularities on both down to, more or less, exact recreation of some of the scenes: You will see what I mean if you watch the below, classic, version.

Writer/Director Craig Brewer (“Hustle & Flow,” “Black Snake Moan”) delivers a new take of the beloved 1984 classic film, “Footloose.” Ren MacCormack (played by newcomer Kenny Wormald) is transplanted from Boston to the small southern town of Bomont where he experiences a heavy dose of culture shock. A few years prior, the community was rocked by a tragic accident that killed five teenagers after a night out and Bomont’s local councilmen and the beloved Reverend Shaw Moore (Dennis Quaid) responded by implementing ordinances that prohibit loud music and dancing. Not one to bow to the status quo, Ren challenges the ban, revitalizing the town and falling in love with the minister’s troubled daughter Ariel (Julianne Hough) in the process.

Arthur has a poster

Arthur, the remake, now has a poster! A short while ago I found that HeyUguys posted up the US poster but now the UK one has appeared via facebook.

You can compare it to the original. The thing that strikes me is they seem to be using the same font (or something very similar) apart from the "drunken a"

Irresponsible charmer Arthur Bach (Russell Brand) has always relied on two things to get by: his limitless fortune and the good sense of his lifelong nanny, Hobson (Academy Award winner Helen Mirren), to keep him out of trouble. Now Arthur faces his biggest challenge - choosing between an arranged marriage that will ensure his lavish lifestyle or an uncertain future with the one thing money can’t buy, Naomi (Greta Gerwig), the only woman he has ever loved.

With Naomi’s inspiration and some unconventional help from Hobson, Arthur will take the most expensive risk of his life and finally learn what it means to become a man, in this re-imagining of the classic romantic comedy.

Warner Bros has now released the UK trailer for the upcoming remake of Arthur with Russell Brand in the title role. The original had some of the best drunk acting ever as you can see in the original trailer (see below the remakes one)

Arthur, the remake

I first caught this sometime last week and thought WHY? The original, 1981, version with Dudley Moore, Liza Minnelli and John Gielgud. Then it just gets "better" with Russell Brand, Greta Gerwig and Helen Mirren playing the three main characters.

There have been some images released, below, that shows the film is quite similar to the original and hopefully it won't be a travesty of the original.
